//Salve! I am happy to welcome you to this museum today. To be here means you have a desire to learn and understand music and for that, you and I mave much in common. I dedicated my life to the study and practice of music and have this collection, which you will come to see, as a testiment to that dedication.
I have been told that after my death, it was my student and successor, Stanislao Mattei, who protected the collection when the Napoleonic forces invaded Italy and threatned to confiscate my library. It was thanks to his bravery and cunning that the colleciton is here today, representing one of the greatest eras of music history.
But I also have music to thank for the community of friends, collegues and students, some you may have heard of, who all brightened my little convent life here in Bologna.
I have also heard that today, the dedication to music which was common during my time, has wanned and that more and more music creation has been turned over to unhuman automated systems.
This truly fills my heart with sadness. But having you here today must mean that not all hope is lost.
Perhaps I could send you on a little quest to help you get a better understanding of true music. As you go through to the other rooms, you'll get the chance to meet and talk to some of my friends, influential figures in the history of music. They will help you learn and may even give you some music for yourself along the way. Once you've spoken to all of them come back and see me.//

//I believe I need no introduction. I left a legacy of some of the greatest music ever composed, and now my name has been etched on the flow of history forever. Before all that however, there was much I needed to learn. I came to Bologna when I was just 14, with a dream of attending the prestigious Accademia Filarmonica. And it was thanks to Padre Martini that I achieved that dream. I became his student and under him I gained many of the compositional techniques that have made my name known far and wide.
He has left me with something for you. But first, just as I had take a test to enter the Accademia, I have prepared a little [[question->Question 1]] for you to see if you deserve this gift.//

Carlo Broschi made an exist and Farinelli took centre stage! //Although I never met him, the legacy of Padre Martini has surrounded my life, particulary during my time at the Liceo Musicale here in Bologna. My style of composition was both novel and traditional. I enjoyed playing with modal scales, going outside the well-established box of tonality. But at the same time, I could not abandon the compositional traditions of the past and found myself going back to many of those formal structures time and again. It seems, perhaps, you can never truly escape your upbringing.
